Lake Tasimeno
Die viertgrößte See in Italien - Trasimeno ist nur 10 km entfernt und bietet Bootsfahrten, Segel- und Surf- Unterricht. Am Uferrand sind Wanderwege, Radwege und eine Reihe von verschwiegenen, künstlichen Stränden mit Bars und Restaurants.

In unmittelbarer Nähe finden Sie auch, Reiten, Golf, Schwimmen, lokale Märkte und Einkaufszentren, Theater, musikalische Veranstaltungen, Live-Musik und Tanz im Freien (jede Woche in Panicale im Sommer), Weinprobe, schwefelhaltige Thermalquellen, unzählige Kunstschätze , schöne Kirchen und Fresken.

Festivals
Unzählige lokale Feste finden während des gesamten Sommers und auch außerhalb der Hochsaison, z.B. das Trauben-Fest im September, das Kastanien-Fest im Oktober, das Oliven-Fest im Dezember. Der international renommierte „Umbria Jazz“, der sowohl im Winter als auch im Sommer stattfindet und im Sommer das jährliche „Trasimeno Blues“ sind nur zwei der musikalischen Festivals. Perugia spektakuläre Euro Schokolade findet jedes Jahr im Oktober statt.

Castiglione del Lago on a small promontory planted with olive trees jutting into the west side of the lake. 
Wonderful small historic centre with cathedral, 13th century Rocca del Leone (Lion Fortress), Palazzo della Corgna (16th C), excellent restaurants, and swimming beaches both north and south. In the summer there is an open air cinema. Market day is Wednesday

Panicale sister village to Paciano..a beautiful 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive) picturesque medieval village, south of the lake on a hill, giving panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. San Sebastiano Church (frescos by Perugino), Museum of the Madonna della Sbarra and the Cesare Caporali Theatre built in the 18th century.

Citta della Pieve (8kms) – town founded on the site of a Roman settlement, which was in turn built on an Etruscan village.  This was Perugino’s home town and there a variety of his paintings including the Adoration of the Magi in the church of Santa Maria della Mercedes and in the cathedral.  The Palio dei Terzieri takes place each August, and includes a costume pageant, bullfight, archery contest, and evenings of traditional Umbrian and Tuscan cuisine. A bustling market takes place every Saturday.

Within an Hours Drive

Paciano is an ideal base for day trips to the Val di Chiana with towns including Arezzo, Cortona, Etruscan Chiusi, Montepulciano, Cetona, Sarteano and the thermal springs at San Casciano dei Bagni.  The gardens at  La Foce overlook the spectacular Val d’Orcia, home to Pienza where The English Patient was filmed and Montalcino, famous for its Brunello wine. Here too are ancient thermal springs in the atmospheric Bagno Vignoni.

Siena, Assisi, Orvieto, Spoleto, Spello, Todi, and countless other beautiful locations are close enough to explore too.

Cortona is one of the oldest cities in Tuscany and its Etruscan roots have been indelibly imprinted onto its foundations. It also stakes a claim as a 'City of Art',

Perugia with its 5 quarters, closed-in by Etruscan town walls. These enormous bastions constructed 22 centuries ago are still visible for long stretches. Whilst the city of Rome was little more that an encampment of huts, one could already enter the etruscan Perugia Italy using one of 7 portals,

Assisi Bathed in Umbrian sunshine, hosting Giotto  frescoes this pink hilltop city with a double basilica dedicated to St Francis is a delight to visit. 

Orvieto The town is situated spectacularly atop an isolated rock 640 feet high. An Etruscan and later a Roman city it boasts an impressive cathedral , a secret underground labyrinth Etruscan caves and of course its famous wine.

Regional Attractions

Further afield, yet still only an hour and a half away, are Rome to the South and Florence to the North. The A1 motorway links both, as do fast train lines from local Chuisi railway station. So Paciano is ideally placed for a touring holiday of central Italy, yet convenient to return at night to the tranquil peace of village life.

Florence (135 km) Florence has some of the most beautiful museums and galleries in the world, housing some of the amazing works of art by artists such as Da Vinci, Botticelli and Michel Angelo.  Florence is a paradise for shoppers as well as art lovers.  Designer boutiques centre around Via dei Tornabuoni in the city centre, while antiques are located across the river in Via Maggio and jewellers can be found on the famous Ponte Vecchio. Rome (175 km) - Rome is a unique city, characterised by a sense of living history, and a bustling, lively atmosphere. Enjoy the spectacular array of fountains, churches, renaissance palaces, imperial temples and ancient monuments. The great inheritance from ancient Rome is the Coliseum an enormous amphitheatre designed to seat more than fifty thousand people. There is also the extraordinary Pantheon (built in 27 BC), with walls hundred and forty two feet high and bronze entry doors weighing twenty tonnes each, regarded by many as one of the architectural wonders of the world. Visit the beautiful Trevi Fountain, Its design is centred on Neptune, the God of the Sea, riding his chariot through gushing waters, and tradition is to throw a coin in the fountain to ensure you return to the ‘Eternal City’.  Rome’s marvellous collection of piazza’s and parks are great places to stop and relax; perhaps the most popular is Piazza de Spagna at the foot of the beautiful and elegant Spanish Steps.
